Denial is a survival strategy. A strategy involves a method or approach that you use over and over again to achieve a goal. The goal is survival.
What is the method in denial?
Something must come up that you want to deny. An event, a realization, a distinction, or a feeling/emotion. Next, you must make the decision that you must make this thing go away to ensure your survival. So you must be firmly convinced that if it exists / is true / has happened, you will die.
Next, the actual denial begins. Denial means to claim that it does not exist / is true / has happened.
By the way, forgetting is also a form of denial. When you say, "I forgot." you take no responsibility and are virtually innocent of the consequences of your forgetting. Actually, it is not possible to forget something. To claim to have forgotten is to tell a victim story in which you are not responsible. Forgetting can also be an excellent survival strategy for surviving. This strategy is popular among people who have experienced severe trauma such as sexual abuse.
In order to deny something, you need a great deal of clarity. Because you need to notice exactly what the thing is that needs to be denied. You need the clarity of a sober dressmaker who cuts the fabric with sharp scissors exactly on the line and not a millimeter too far to the left or to the right. There are thousands of survival strategies. I maintain that people who deny have a great deal of clarity and can bring it into the space as a Bright Principle. It might be surprising at first glance because someone who denies something might seem confused at first glance. And it could be that a tremendous amount of that person's brilliant clarity suddenly shines into the space when they make the decision that the old strategy has had its day and is no longer needed.Desperation vs. Initiations

The experiment works like this:
Take a few minutes in the evening and write down 10 incidents from today that you remember and would like to shred.You want to forget them forever and not remember them.
Then take the first incident with your energetic hands and let it slide from the top into the memory shredder. Make the sound that the memory shredder makes when shredding the incident.
